Carrie Barnes · Keynote Speaker & Connection Guide for Leaders & Lodges
We protect what we feel connected to
I arrived as a tourist and left as a steward. Now I help leaders and lodges create that same shift in the people they serve.
The Problem
People don't protect what they're only told about.
Most organizations run on information: engagement surveys, mission statements, welcome briefings, fact sheets. People nod, then go back to what they were doing. The cost shows up everywhere.
Teams that aren't connected to the mission
Only 1 in 5 employees worldwide is engaged at work. The rest show up, but they aren't protecting what you're building.
Guests who leave with photos, not a bond
A once-in-a-lifetime trip becomes a one-time trip. Guests fly home, and the land, wildlife, and community that hosted them fade into a camera roll.
Places that run out of protectors
Just 15,752 white rhinos and 6,788 black rhinos remain in Africa. Wild places survive only when enough people care enough to act.
It shouldn't take a crisis for people to care. Connection can be designed.

In Carrie's Words
I used to believe information changed people. But it's connection that changed me.
Meet Your Guide
From the boardroom to the rhino sanctuary.
Carrie spent more than two decades leading commercial teams in corporate healthcare. Then orphaned rhinos in South Africa, gorilla families in Uganda, and a river valley in Costa Rica showed her what makes people protect something. Today she serves on the board of Care for Wild and helps leaders and lodges create that same connection.

Information or connection. The difference shows up everywhere.
Without connection
- Teams that clock in but don't care
- Guests who never come back
- Wildlife treated as a backdrop
- Care that never becomes action
With connection
- Teams that own the mission
- Guests who return, recommend you, and give back
- Communities and wildlife with more protectors
- People who protect what they love
